I decided it was time to replace my 16 year old double glazed windows. Window design and technology have improved significantly during this time, and prices have come down.
I approached four different companies. Two, I felt, lacked knowledge and understanding. Of the two remaining one was a little hesitant about their ability, with their current designs, to meet the 'A' energy rating that I wanted. They did, however, say they could and would try and quoted me a reasonable price.
This left me with the smallest - a local company 'Best Choice Windows'. I thought the name a bit presumptuous, but it proved to be completely accurate.
I met Dean, the Managing Director, Estimator, Fitter and tea boy! I was immediately impressed by his hands-on experience, knowledge and honest 'no-bull' approach. His quotation was the most detailed I had received and 15% below the cheapest other price and over 50% below the dearest. 'A' energy rating was not a problem.
The 11 window frames arrived unglazed, enabling them to be properly secured, not just stuck in with silicone. 25 Glazed sashes had to be ?????? In spite of this the team of 3 very professional and co-ordinated fitters completed the installation of 11 windows in one day; testimony not only to their skill but also to the accuracy of the survey measurements by Dean. The site was left clean and tidy, just in time for the cold and snow, and yes, we can feel a difference.
We are happy we did indeed make the 'Best Choice'.
